H-Roc

Tonight, we’ve got a man serving up sweet lyrical magic, he’s good friends with our previous guest, Radio; and he hails all the way from Tucson, Arizona, it’s H-Roc!

His real name is Hasaan Young. H-Roc had a tough upbringing, growing up in the harder parts of Arizona, it was a dog-eat-dog world from where he comes from. At 21, he was involved in a fight which led him to receive a life-threatening gunshot wound in the chest. (He spoke about it vividly in a song titled, Education 4 Life)

Having survived, he vowed to live life to the fullest and started focusing on turning his dreams into reality. He took rapping seriously as he joined a group called “The Heat”. The group released three albums, with H-Roc was in charge of the production side of things. The group evolved to “Loyality Clicc”, was noted as some of southwest’s hardest hitting MCs to date.

Fast forward to today, he is signed under Radio’s 2Deep Entertainment label in 2009, has a distribution deal with Warner Music Malaysia and was featured together with our local homeboy, SonaOne in Radio’s latest single, Nervous.

For the record, H-Roc scored 11!
