Joanne Kam

Tonight, we had Malaysia’s leading first lady of comedy in our studios. You’ve known her from her stand up, theatre and for her voice on radio, it’s none other than Joanne Kam!

Joanne was born in Johor but after being raised on the island of Penang, she’d associate it more as her hometown than Johor. During school, she had an inkling that a career in the sciences wasn't on the cards but she had a fine talent for stage.

After SPM, she went to Singapore to audition as a performer at a theme park. Her big break was when the infamous comedian Kumar of Singapore found Joanne performing at the park and brought her in for Boom Boom Singapore.

Fast forward to today, Joanne has seen experience working in radio as she started off with a 6 month stint at Mix FM in 2003 before returning in 2006 due to popular demand. Capital FM and Red FM are also on her resume whilst she established an events company called ToniQ Creative.

Also for 2015, Joanne is busy with the current iteration of her own show production, with SuperKam 3: It Gets Wetter. Starring Joanne Kam, Shamaine Othman, Sharul Channa, Bibi K Poh & hosted by Papi Zak. It will be the show’s third year running. SuperKam 3 returns at Penang Performing Arts Centre on the 21st and 22nd August.

For the record, Joanne scored 11!
