Stellar Dreams

It's 2015, and amongst the cluster of dubstep music, indie folk alternative and the seemingly formulaic top 40 song trend; a peculiar music style emerged. Called the 80’s revivalism, it’s a throwback to the hard-bass drumline coupled with high synth leads and haunting vocals. Leading the Malaysian wave is the KL-based duo, Stellar Dreams.

Stellar Dreams are a synthwave/future-wave duo consisting of Iqwan Ridzuwan and Khairil Shah. Citing Hans Zimmer, Tangerine Dream, M83, Daft Punk and the 80’s pop culture as influences and ideas.

The two met up at a local music studio where Iqwan and Khairil instantly clicked. Back home and in the space of a few hours, their first single Nightvoid was created, artwork quickly thrown together and Iqwan called themselves Stellar Dreams.

The duo were noticed and signed under the German record label, Kietz Beats.

Stellar Dreams released their 5th EP titled Beyond Horizon earlier this year.

For the record, the duo scored 14!
