By The Way: Tencent Music Exploits Music Rights, South Korea Bans Fast Music, New Album from Jethro Tull, Neal Schon Guitar Auction

By The Way is a rapid-fire segment that gives you a snapshot of developing stories in the music world. This week, China ordered Tencent Music to give up its exclusive music rights after they were accused of using it to monopolize the market over its competitors. South Korea implemented new guidelines and instructed gyms not to play music with more than 120 beats per minute (BPM) during group exercises as this could increase the likelihood of stray droplets that could potentially lead to more Covid-19 cases. British rock band Jethro Tull announced the release of “The Zealot Gene”, their first studio album in 20 years - it marks the band’s first release as part of a new record deal with InsideOutMusic. Meanwhile, Neal Schon’s electric guitar, a black 1977 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe - used on many of Journey’s hits, including ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ will be going up for auction.
