Making Music In Isolation

The pandemic has forced musicians to pivot in an effort to upkeep the level of their craft and productivity, resulting in impressive new realms to play together. In light of that, the Goethe-Institut rolled out its Virtual Partner Residencies For Professional Musical Artists program to foster international musical collaborations. One of three Malaysian musicians that obtained the grant is experimental musician Ng Chor Guan, who produced a travel documentary in collaboration with Munich's Paranormal Strings Quartet. Chor Guan and Tan E-Jan recount the memorable experience working on this piece, embracing the future of producing music in isolation.
