Warner Music To Adopt Soundcloud's Fan-Powered Royalties Model

Recently, Warner Music cut a deal with Soundcloud to adopt the streamer’s Fan-Powered Royalties (FPR) system, which allocates royalties based on individual listening rather than distributing subscription money based on total streams. WMG is the first major label to adopt the system and could signal a larger shift for the industry. We explore if this will be the future of the music business with resident tech guru, Matt Armitage.
