In mid December last year, South Korean president Yoon Suk Yeol was impeached after declaring martial law, which was largely scorned by the public at large. Yet, the attempt to arrest him by the authorities last week was unsuccessful due to a blockade of supporters at the presidential residence. The acting president who was appointed after Yoon was impeached, Han Duck-soo, was also impeached at the end of 2024. William Pesek, Columnist, Nikkei Asia, will be giving us some color on the chaos that is the political scene in South Korea.
