Kidneys Under Pressure #1: Battling The Burden of Chronic Kidney Disease

Almost 50,000 people in Malaysia live with end-stage renal disease, which means they are in and out of a healthcare facility almost every day, undergoing dialysis. They are also likely to be on several medications, and experiencing limitations in their daily routines. On today’s show, we dive into what it means to live with chronic kidney disease, what treatment for end-stage renal disease entails, and why support for patients with chronic kidney disease is an all-of-society effort. Dr Lily Mushahar, President of the Malaysian Society of Nephrology, and Khor Xin Yun, CEO, National Kidney Foundation of Malaysia, join us for this discussion.

This show is brought to you by Boehringer Ingelheim Malaysia. Visit foryoursweetheart.my to learn more about diabetes - a major risk factor for chronic kidney disease - and get free health screening at participating clinics.
