Let Refugees Work?

Pakatan Harapan went into GE14 promising to ratify the United Nations’ 1951 Refugee Convention. Lawyer Renuka Balasubramaniam, now a PhD candidate at Melbourne University, reckons Malaysia should start by allowing asylum seekers and refugees currently in the country to work legally and immediately. Renuka explains how such a process could be initiated and address concerns that doing this might open the floodgates to illegal immigration.
