Every Thaipusam you’re bound to see a few familiar sights. If you’re near Batu Caves, you’ll be greeted by troops of monkeys and the iconic golden Murugan statue. On the ground you’ll see thousands of devotees carrying milk pots and huge intricate structures known as Kavadis. We sit down with expert Kavadi makers K Sivarajah and his son Sathish to learn about the unseen labour that goes into these structures and the ways art translates to faith.
