Top 5 at 5: Why Are Teens Selling Sex Online?

In Kelantan, a 15-year-old girl has been found to be offering sexual services via Telegram, and has been placed under the care of the Social Welfare Department. Just last month, a group of schoolchildren were selling explicit photos of themselves via a Whatsapp group. Are cases like this becoming more common? And how can we better protect and rehabilitate these children? We speak to Srividhya Ganapathy about this.

Other stories we covered:

Sex tape resurfaces amid Bersatu power struggle: Bersatu faces internal turmoil as Supreme council member Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan reignites secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali's 2019 sex-tape scandal amid leadership tensions. We discuss this latest drama with Syaza Shukri, Associate Professor of Political Science at the International Islamic University of Malaysia.

Doctors vs. MP allowances: Doctors are pushing for an increase in on-call allowances, arguing it shouldn't come at the expense of MPs' pay, following a proposal to reallocate parliamentary funds. Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari bin Abdul rejected the idea, citing MPs' operational costs and raising broader questions about fairness across public service roles. We hear Dr Timothy Cheng, Chairman of the Malaysian Medical Association’s Section Concerning House Officers, Medical Officers and Specialists, discuss this.

No more junk food in schools: The Education and Health Ministries have banned 12 categories of unhealthy food and drinks from school canteens, including nuggets, instant noodles, and sugary beverages. While the move is widely praised, critics say more oversight is needed beyond school gates. Nutritionist Lee Zhi Ling weighs in on this.

AI-generated actress causes a stir: Tilly Norwood has just entered Hollywood as a new actress, but with a lot of backlash against her. Why? Because she's not real. Created by AI talent studio, Xicoia, Tilly represents a growing trend of synthetic stars flooding media. We discuss.
