The legacy of Datuk Ng Joo Ngan is an illustrious one, he was a former multi-medal cyclist, winning various medals throughout the 60s and 70s, representing Malaysia in various international competitions, all before retiring at the young age of 27. Though he’s been retired for many decades, he has remained active in the sporting scene, coaching up and coming athletes of the cycling world as well as running a bicycle shop to provide equipment to casual as well as passionate cyclers. Datuk Ng Joo Ngan joins us on Bar None this week, recalling his experience as a professional cyclist in an era before personal physicians at your beck and call, his time coaching cyclists who would later become cycling legends themselves and what he’s been up to since.
