The Metaphor

The Metaphor

Tonight, we have a local band who brings listeners for audible journeys via the magic of post-rock, The Metaphor! A band consisting of six members, Tomas (band leader, guitar), Ling (keyboards), Kelvin (bass), Sze Yee (guitar) and Izzy on the drums.

In the studio today we only have Tomas, as he is representing the band on the show tonight! Metaphor was formed in 2010 with Tomas having talks with Ling about creating an instrumental rock band. Kelvin and Sze Yee came in via contacts while Izzy only came along only later when the original drummer left after finishing their first EP Preface in 2011.

With influences from Sigur Ros and Explosions In The Sky, Metaphor tries itself on an emphasis of story based tunes. Tomas would (usually, not always) create a basic structure for the song while his band members would arrange their musical pieces to complete the song.

The band has released a self-titled album in 2014 with eight tracks that provoke thought and curiosity. In early of 2014 in preparation for the album, the band had toured China in March 2014, an adventure where Izzy mispronounces Chinese phrases, Sze Yee hitting Kelvin on the head and Tomas being teased for using the mic.

For the record, Tomas on behalf of The Metaphor scored 6.5!
