S1E05 - New Wave Cinema

Unpacking Malaysian Cinema is an 8-part series that discusses relevant issues facing Malaysian film industry as told by filmmakers drawing on archival recordings and new interviews. Spearheading the revival of Malaysian films after 2000, and continuing to innovate until today, indie filmmakers have an important place and role in any film industry. We look back on Malaysia’s indie movement so called ‘New Wave Malaysian Cinema’ from its beginning in the early 2000s, and look at a new crop of filmmakers pushing film narrative and form forward.
