S1E08 - To Go Online?

Unpacking Malaysian Cinema is an 8-part series that discusses relevant issues facing Malaysian film industry as told by filmmakers drawing on archival recordings and new interviews.

In the past decade, online distribution has emerged as a new means of reaching an audience – an alternative to theatrical release. Is online distribution a panacea, especially for smaller filmmakers, or is it a distribution deadend? We talked to filmmakers with experiences in online distribution as well as others who have opinions on this alternative about its advantages and disadvantages.
