Morning Brief
This year, Malaysia will play chair to ASEAN, and this is our fifth time since the bloc’s founding in 1967. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said in his new year 2025 address that this is a great honour for the country and an opportunity to create a new chapter in regional and global agendas. He did, however, acknowledge that there will be challenges from within and without the nation lying ahead. Bunn Nagara, Director and Senior Fellow, BRI Caucus for Asia-Pacific & Honorary Fellow, Perak Academy will be joining us to give us a picture of how our chairmanship of ASEAN might go in the months ahead.

So, is it all doom and gloom for the F&B industry, or could there be hidden tailwinds as we enter 2025? Patrick Sim, Deputy Chief of the Food & Beverage Division at the Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA), shares his insights. He is also the Group CEO of Secret Recipe.
